Maiko Matcha is smooth and full of rich umami flavour.
The most brilliant of emerald greens, Maiko Matcha is a blended ceremonial matcha combining tencha (matcha tea leaves) grown in the high mountains of both Kagoshima in the south of Japan and Shizuoka in central Japan.
Airfreighted in small batches direct from the producer to ensure the product retains optimal farm-fresh flavour and quality, this unique style of powdered green tea is perfect on its own with warm or chilled water, or whipped into a creamy matcha latte.
Tasting notes: Clean and full-bodied umami with light, floral silkiness on the palate evoking thoughts of spring.
Dual origin: Kagoshima and Shizuoka, Japan. Cultivar: Yabukita.
HOW TO USE START
Place 1/2 tsp of matcha in a tea bowl then wet with 15ml of water at 70°C. Thoroughly knead mixture using a matcha bamboo whisk until a paste forms. Add a further 70ml of remaining hot water and whisk until consistent. Serve hot or chill with ice.
